Always go down and inspect the place and the quality of their work before committing. If possible, get references. Word of mouth is the best advertisement so if you have a local gathering, ask around.

Body work can be the biggest rip off ever, they can hide alot and make things look pretty for about 6 months. I'd ask around at cruise nights and car shows, the people will know whos good and who isn't.

I would do what these other guys have said, but don't be affraid to look around in their shop, the cleaner the better. If it looks like it's covered with grease, then look elsewhere. A bodyshop is one of the dirtiest places, but it must be maintained in order for it to come out right. Oh yeah and don't just go to one place over another cause you save money, there's a reason it's cheaper. Oh and while they do hide a lot, a lot of it can be seen, look at body panel fit. Ask to see if they have any cars they've painted recently. If they did a color match, you shouldn't be able to tell the difference where they painted and were they didn't. If they painted the whole car look at it in the sun if possible, and look down the side of the car, looking mostly for straightness here. Another thing, touch the car, don't scratch it, just feel it, if you can feel the flames, or w/e design, look elsewhere. Just makesure that you don't "invade" their shop, just ask nicely and if they're good people they shouldn't really care. Hope this helps!(y)
