How did you get your Maverick or Comet home? We drove the 1970 Maverick and hauled the 1974 Comet and 1973 Maverick on our 18 foot car trailer
well i drove my 75 home only about 5 miles ran like a dream i had a 70 parts car that i drove from Inwood (which is like 10 miles) i drove that home , barely made it , carb/timing issues paid 300 for it i got tons out of it still have some left overs
Flat bed wrecker -- 12 miles. When I went to pick mine up, the engine was missing really bad (as in, NOT THERE! ).
Wife & Son drove one from Colorado. Wife & Son drove one from Wisconsin. Son drove one from North Carolina. Son hauled one from Texas. Had one shipped from Washington. Had one shipped from California.
The first two Mavericks where driven home. The latest one was not so willing. It had sat for so long that the front wheels would not turn at all. The car had to be dragged onto the back of a flatbed trailer for the ride home. Getting it off the trailer was a little easier. Wheel dollys are such wonderful items to have.
Drove my 74 1200 miles home from TX no plates no inspection. Hauled my 73 home from NJ on a 18' trailer.
My 76 was a few houses down from mine, my 75 was about 100km away and my 74 came from New Brunswick, which is about 1000 KM away.
I towed my first 74 Grabber, 100+ km with a towbar I towed a 75 Comet with a rope across town at rush hour. I drove my second 74 Grabber home with plates from another Province. I drove a 74 Comet across town at midnight with no plates and one headlight. My 73 Grabber came home with the help of a Tow Truck. Others went to my Moms, on my trailer when I had one.
I drove my 73 Comet ~30 miles on the 101 in Phoenix in the rain with bald tires. Scary stuff. I drove my 74 Maverick ~30 miles on the 101 in Phoenix, harmonic balancer exploded, car died when I came to a stop, and then it started raining about 5 miles away from my apartment. Drove nicely while it was moving, though.
Moving Initially, both the parts car (71 grabber) and the project car (73 2-door) were hauled on a flat-bed car trailer from South Carolina to Virginia (seperate trips, of course). I am now in the process of moving. The 71 is at the new place - that was easy seeing as how is still has wheels and could roll right up onto the same trailer with the help of a come-along. Now the 73 will be a little tougher as it has no wheels - or even suspension parts!
I drove Tammy's home from SanDiego 70 miles mid summer it was not happy it ran kind of hot pinging on the hills. I drove the replacement car home from Hunigton beach 50 miles ran great but used a quart of oil and had scary miss adjusted drum brakes. Me and Ken dragged mine home on back roads using a tow strap
