I was just woundering how many of you use Patronix ignition. I tryed it in my car and it was the smartest thing i could have done. I wanted a clean look under the hood but still keep new technology. I was shocked when i opened the box and saw how small it was.
For those of you who don't know what it is , or have never herd of it . It is a repalcement from points ignition to electronic. It fits right inside the distributer were the old points ignition mounted. I never ran my car on the old ignition so i don't have much to judge it against, but it have had vehicals in the past with points ignition .:drive: (y) I think i should buy shares in the company i like the product that much:clap: If any of you want to know what it looks like or want some info on it you can go onto the JEGS website

I've got Petronix in my truck. Compared to the points, it was as different as night and day. Fires much easier and idles much smoother. Best of all, the distributor cap hasn't been off of it since they were installed about 5 years ago.

The reliability has been proven over time, which was the main concern initially. Going on 8 years with mine.

I've had one in my 70 F-100 with a 390 for about 7 years and had no problems. I love it. I'd never do another Duraspark conversion.

BINGO - the #1 reason to put one in.
Regardless of performance increases .... not having to mess with anything under the cap again is worth every penny!

I have put them in cars, trucks, boats, tractors and one is going into my AC model D road grader!

    .030 will do it

Make sure you have enough voltage going to it. Points often use a resistor wire to drop the voltage to keep the points from burning. pertronix like the voltage to be as close to 12 volts as you can get it. I forget the cut off, but they don't work very well below like 10 volts.

Did we drift off topic? Looks fine to me.

The Pertronix I will tolerate the voltages from the factory resistor wire, which can be as low as 8v. The Pertronix II will require 12v.

    200 inline 6 --- get the Pertronix 1261

It is a direct swap for the points, with no modifications or changes to your stock coil or wiring. -- here is one on ebay at a good price.

the Pertronix can run on 6 or 12 volts....BUT make sure your coil can. Stock coil wants 6 volts (use ballast resistor) if and only if you upgrade to the Pertronix Flame Thrower coil can you feed the pertronix 12 v.
Also don't leave the ignition on without the engine running you will burn it up. The Pertronix II has protection for this potential problem and a variable dwell as well.

Points are pointless :) Mine has had Pertronix for 10 years never let me down. Installed it on my 2.0 Pinto 2 years ago and it cured the run on and now always has all of it's (modest) power :)
