I just received a new vinyl sample book from one of my distributors. Morbern, Inc. has reproduced several OEM colors of the Corinthian grain vinyls used on Mavericks/Comets and other early Fords. They have the following:
MBL-4907 Metallic Medium Blue, replaces L-4907 (Detroit Body Cloth #)
    MBL-4061 Ginger, replaces L-4061
    MBL-4794 Brown, replaces L-4794
    MBL-3722 Black, replaces L-3722
    MBL-5265 Metallic Jade, replaces L-5265
These are all 54" wide expanded vinyls, -10 cold crack, compatible with industrial adhesives and meet all DOT flammability requirements. I have not yet received a price sheet but there vinyls retail for $18.00-$26.00/yd. This is quite a bit less than the $45.00/yd that SMS Auto Fabrics charges for similar reproduction vinyls. In the recent past Spradling and CGPC America both reproduced most of the original colors but have ceased production. I have been able to obtain most of what they offered recently along with some originals. I have found a quantity of Antique Green vinyl top material.

The sides of the seats are usually Corinthian grain. The inserts can be either cloth, Corinthian grain or Ruffino grain. The Corinthian is a very fine pebble grain, the Ruffino is a lot bolder , heavier looking grain. I'm not sure if any others were used. I will try to post a close up photo of the samples.

I have a set of custom color '69/'70 Mach I upholstery for my '69 Maverick.
It is a light metallic blue I would guess. Is there a way that I could get you
a sample to match. Or, could you get me a sample. It is comforweave? in the
center inserts. I am afraid the back seat covers (fold down) will not be enough
to cover the Maverick rear seat frames.

    Thanks,

    Seth

    Maybe...

....it looks more like the light metallic blue that I have seen in '65/'66 cars.

    Tom,
The sample I sent you was from Spradling and is no longer in production. Some may still be available though besides what I have here. The vinyls I mentioned in my earlier posts are all currently available and the MLB-4907 matches what I sent you, same thickness. What SMS sent you may not be for seats. Sometimes a thinner, stiffer vinyl is used on door panels. Although the replacement number would be the same since color and texture are the same they tend to be thinner. So far I have not been able to get a good copy of the samples to post here but I am still trying. The Comfortweave is not available to me through my suppliers. SMS or the trim cover manufacturer are the only sources I know of. I have been able to buy yardage from Distinctive Industries, they manufacture Mustang replacement interiors, same price as SMS.
