Ok, I want to swap my 200 I6 for a 351C. I wish to do this with as little money possible so any parts I can keep i will do that. What would be my biggest concerns besides shock towers? I already know about how I will need to chop them. my car currently has power steering, I want to keep it that way but would I have to change the entire setup? Also would the 4 lug front end hold up with the 351? Eventually I will go to disc but again, Money!! So in review, haha, I guess I need expert advice on the entire swap!! Thanx in advance for the help!!

Any mounts, pulleys, transmission parts, etc... that fit a 302 Maverick, will work on a 351.

The shock towers do not have to be shaved, however, if you don't want to pull the engine to change the sparkplugs, then you probably should. ;)

You need the Cleveland, of course, but you will also need:
Passenger car front sump pan off 351c/m/400...
    Swap headers
    Oil filter relocation kit
Distributor off a 351c if you want points
Distributor off a later 351m/400 or 460 if you want Duraspark

I would look for PS brackets off a 351c/m/400... Should be a good start.
Tubular Automotive makes some good individual tube headers for the swap.

    This was in my 75.
I did it just for giggles.
They said I couldn't type deal.
It was bone stock, with a bunch of dress up odds and ends I had laying around.
Had a deep sump Moroso pan on it, so I can tell you that fits without issue.
Had a Duraspark off a 460 that plugged right into and worked perfectly with the car's Duraspark harness.

The plugs, wires, and valve covers were all on that baby before it went in!
You could get stock valve covers off, and maybe get to the plugs with those, but the tall Morosos were going nowhere. You couldn't get to the bolts.

    Yes
The C can use any pulleys, mounts, transmission parts, and accessories from a 28 oz SBF.
(except pre-65 5 bolt trannys, and 3 bolt crank pulley would require a 289 balancer, which will swap.)

411, did you re-enforce the shock towers or do any other re-enforcing? My swap is just going to be for s street car. The motor will be stock out of a 73 torino. not sure exactly what type of transmission, but it is auto with a shift kit. I basically need this info because i might buy the 351 but im not sure yet. So could I still use the 200's power steering pump and just mount in different location? What type of driveshaft and u-joints should I use?

Hey Mavinator my name is Andrew. I am doing the EXACT same swap into the EXACT same car (1970 Maverick). Didnt think anyone was doin this too. Thats cool. What year is your motor? I just found a 1976 Granada at a junkyard that has the Ford 9 inch rear and front 5 lung spindles that I am gonna be pulling off for mine. My guess is that after I pull it all the total cost for all of it will be about 250. Which isnt bad. I dunno if you can swing that but you are going to need at least a ford 8 inch rear (wont take nearly as much abuse as a 9 inch and you may end up swapping it again so you may just want to go for the 9 inch right off the bat). With the power of the Cleveland you would turn the stock 7.5 inch rear into hamburger meat the first time you drove it. The 7.5 inch rear is pretty worthless for anything bigger than the 200 six. What tranny are you planning on using? I am going with the Wide Ratio Toploader 4 speed. Very stout tranny. If you want to go Auto the C6 is also very stout. Both will take the beating of the Cleveland. You will need a big block tranny for the Cleveland also for the simple fact that the bellhousings for those are the big block bolt pattern even tho the cubes are considered "small block" because of this the Cleveland is catagorized as a "middle block". Hope some of this helps feel free to PM me if you have any more questions or want to compare things.
    -Andrew

    Think hard about the tranny.
A 73 Cleveland is probably going to have an FMX. Won't fit any Maverick well, then you have a 70. That first year, the Mav had an even smaller trans tunnel.
    Stick with a C4. If the 73 has a C4, great!
    I used stock driveline...

My 75 had factory reinforced towers. It was common on AC equipped cars from what I understand. I don't know that it made a big deal at all.

One thing that DOES make a big deal is the tower braces.
I ran my 75 with the braces off for a while. Then when I tried to install the Cleveland, the towers had sagged in and I lost about 2" of engine bay width.
The small dents you see at the top of my towers are where I had to porta-power them apart to get the engine in, and more importantly, to get my tower braces back on the car.

    What?!?!

The 351c is a small block and uses all small block bellhousings, flywheels, flexplates, balancers, mounts, trannys, torque converters, starters, etc so-on...
