merc1mack, and anyone else, does the AK hood scoop bolt on? Did they provide a template to assist with installation? Thanks

    GT hood scoop

Well, merc1mack comes to the rescue. I ordered the hood scoop. My buddy and I looked at others on the web and placed the hood scoop on the hood. We positioned it where we thought it looked good and we marked the holes. Then with a 3/8 inch drill we drilled the holes. My buddy nearly had a heart attack when I drilled into the hood!
Basically, do your geometry and align the holes on a X and Y plane. Make certain three times that all is good and go for it.
The mounting screws are included. It is a great addition!:)

I have a question about the scoop. Is it like the stock scoop that gets wider at the rear? or is it square? The picture at their site looks square.

I want to put this scoop on my latest maverick project but, I don't want to pay evil-bay prices. I would love to have all the measurements rear width, front width, rear height, front height.

Tom I think you want the measurements for the aftermarket scoop but here are the dims. for the original Comet Gt scoope. Rear width 25" length 26" front width 21",over all hieght approx.2 1/2 ". These might make it easer for you to find out how the aftermarket scoops measure up. Russ

Well it won't fit the profile of the Maverick hood, unless it is very different from the Comet scoop.

I have a GT scoop on my Mav. with a stock hood. It fits great. May-be Charlie was thinking Grabber hoods?

oooh... i actually think that a comet gt style scoop ON a grabber hood would be pretty bloody sweet :D:D... almost like a 4.5" svo cowl hood for mustangs.. i'm pretty sure thats the one i'm thinking about..

Thomas- isn't that the same maverick that was in an issue of Popular Hot rodding?

Yep and it was also in Hot Rod, you can still read the article at the Hot Rod web site. Unfortunatly that car was totaled last year, it has been reserected with a late model 5.0 aluminum heads among other engine mods, mustang II front suspension, power windows, power locks, keyless entry, cruise control, custom aluminum 19 Gal gas tank, and remote rear vent windows

I may be able to post a picture of my hood scoop. It is the same one as the Cougar Eliminator hood scoop. It looks perfect on my Merc1. On a Maverick, well... I would not put it on a Grabber hood.

I will be using the stock maverick hood, not butchering the grabber hoods!

Cool, a picture would be great  I'm using the stock maverick hood on this project. I was looking into the shaker's to put on but, with the style I'm doing the comet GT scoop should work better. To be able to get a new one that needs no repair work is even is a bonus :D
