I just aquired a 1972 Grabber. It was been parked under a tree for 10 years, After 10 years i fed the carb with fresh gas and WOW! It stared on the first key turn! Anyhooo.. The vent between the hodd and the windsheild is PACKED full of leafs. I dont see any way to get them out.. Any help would be GREAT! Thanks Guys! Chaz.
a lot of compressed air, and once ya get em centralised, a nice pick will help, just keep workin, they'll come out.i mean, i see no foreseeable other alternative, there is alot of people here who may direct you in a better manner.
You could always drive down the highway and open the vent lever inside the car. You might want to have a set of goggles on! No easy way to get them out. There are small openings behind the fenders.
Probably have to take the heater out and the driver's side vent assembly out and reach up in there and get out all the leaves.
That is the only way to really get them all out. I had a car packed with pine needles which basically composted into topsoil in the bottom. I was able to remove the heater and driver side vent and shove a we dry vac up in their to suck out what I could why blowing air from the top .....
Great stories on here about those of us who opened the vents for the first time whlie traveling at highway speeds.
Well it wont go into gear, i can shift it (sloppy, but shifts) but it dont do anything. Im just lucky after 10 years of sitting the engine fired RIGHT upand sound like its ready to do circles around everything! Chaz.
Ohh the memorys... first time night I had my '74 Grabber on the road, my mom, dad, and brother got in and we went to Chili's to eat supper. I flipped the heater on to see if it worked. I immediately got a face full of leaves, pin straw and all kinds of stuff flying out of the defroster vents. The people in the car in the lane next to me were looking over laughing like crazy.
dont forget to make sure you get the ones out of the fenders right in front of the door on the bottom also, they often decompose/crush and end up there causing rot holes in the front fenders as well.you may want to feel around in there where you cant see with a small broom or brush.
