take an old pushrod (5/16) and cut it in half with a tubing cutter so it's straight. I like to cut another 1/2" off of one end too. Then take a 1/4-20 tap and cut some threads in each of the cut ends. Then take a piece of 1/4" threaded rod and cut a section off of it, thread one end into one part of the pushrod, and thread the other end onto the rod...and presto you have yourself an adjustable pushrod for cheap. Seems like every time this subject comes up, someone says "go buy a pushrod length checker tool"....why? You can build a better one at home and not have to wait for it to show up.

Not everybody has a tap and die set or a tubing cutter so by the time they buy all that they could have bought 2 3 checkers and that's buying el cheapo tools. I now my Snap-on Tap dye set was over 300.00 easy. :)
