I came across what I think are Grabber bucket seats in a salvage yard. I have a freind who is interested in them but since they were not in the car I'm not sure if they are from a Maverick / Comet. There was a Comet GT hood and right front fender sitting next to them. The upholstery seems correct but I'm not familiar with the correct seat tracks. I've attached some photos. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Fred
Dan, Thanks! I actually found them in the salvage yard over 15 years ago and put them in the old Econoline that they are resting against too see how they would fit in my Econoline. I didn't like the angle of the backrest so I left them in the van. Last week I went back looking for van parts and couldn't believe the van and the seats were still where I left them. I put them back in the van for safe keeping. Now I just have to get him down a bit on the price. He is asking $200.00 for them! They have been in bussiness since the 1930's and don't crush very many cars. I have found some rare vehicles there covered in overgrowth. Next to the van was a 1970 Mercury Marauder X-100 with a 429 in it. It still had the factory alloy wheels when I got there but not when I left. I had grabbed the Comet GT scoop years ago. Thanks again, Fred
I just bought a set of 1971 Mustang deluxe buckets that came with seat tracks. I can see that the Maverick bucket seat tracks are much different than the Stang ones. Would a set of Maverick tracks bolt right up to the Stang seats? Things never seems to be that easy though.
They should. I have heard some guys using Mustang seats and they pretty much bolted in. The bolt holes in the seats are probaly the same on most Fords of that era, the difference being the tracks. Wouldn't be hard to adapt even if they were a bit different.
The seats are on the same frame. The only differences are the design of the cover and the tracks. The tracks are not the same as Maverick tracks, however they can be used. They just take a little modding to work. If you find Maverick tracks, they bolt right up with little effort. Dave
I guess finding the stock Maverick tracks will be the hard part. Are there any sources other than junk yards?
I would give $200 for those without a second thought. But if you can get the price down, more power to you!
I paid $30 for mine. The local U-pull-it here sells any seat for $20 each. I remember back in '89 when Chuck S. offered them for $150/set (plus shipping) "regardless of condition". Screw that...
Do a little sherlocking ... maybe the spacers are laying around on the ground somewhere or still inside the car ... You need two spacers that look like a small bell ... and two that look at half a twinkie ... I have the spacers for one seat I'd be willing to sell .....
Same here, but those aren't something you just come across in Pull-A-Part in an average day. Infact, I have never came across a set of high back buckets like that in any junkyard, period. And if I did, I would have no problem giving $150-$200 for them. As for Maverick Connection, pretty well known his prices are ridiculous. My dad had some pretty choice things to say about him after he told my dad he absolutely could not get replacement door handles anywhere for his Comet, and he had to buy NOS ones from The Maverick Connection for some totally ridiculous price back in the early 90's. My dad laughed, and went and bought some for a Mustang.
