    Help Please 70 Mav

I am still having troubles with my 70 maverick. Here is the link to my original post and replies from it so you can see what steps i have taken so far. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=28713

I have since pulled the starter off and had it tested, it is good. While it was off I cleaned it off and inspected the teeth on the gears of the starter and the fly wheel both of which are good. I had my wife try to start it while i listened to it. The sound i was hearing that i had believed was coming from my starter is not my starter afterall. The sound seems to be coming from either my starter solenoid (which i have already replaced) or a little black box that is located under the solenoid which i have no idea what it is. Can someone tell me what this box is? How do i see if anything is wrong with it? Also where could I find a diagram to show me how the starter solenoid is supposed to be wired up? I believe that I have wired it properly but am not 100% sure.

Recheck battery voltage. Regulator (little black box) alternator, may have shorted and draining your new battery.

You can take your jumper cables and run from batt to starter lug, ONLY "BUMP" ON STARTER to see if engine turns over.

Solenoid, post (lug) closest to batt gets hooked up to pos. side batt. Post towards firewall goes to starter. With that hooked up, take a old screwdriver or piece of wire and run from positive side to the small lug towards front of car of the solenoid. Engine should turn over.

Make sure you clean all connections!!!! Take ground wire off of the engine block an clean real with along with the bolt that secures to block!!! Just because ground is bolted to block an you busted your knuckles tighten it does not mean it's grounded properly! engine to body needs grounded also.

I checked the things you mentioned and in the process discovered a broken wire attached to my solenoid. Got that replaced and have my battery on a charger charging back up because it had been draind. Hopefully this fixes my problem will check back tomorrow and post again to let you know if it fixed it thank you.
