    I purchased a 1971 Maverick Grabber that is a 6 Cylinder, That I want to change to a 302. The 6 is worn out, and I have found a 1988 Thunderbird with a 302
Roller that I want to put in the car but I would like to know from anyone that has done it, what kind of problems I am going to incurr. I am going to change the fuel injection to a carb. To make the change as easy as possible for now but may put it back on at a later date. Any info is appreciated...

    Thanks

welcome to the board. you will need the v8 motor and frame mounts, the frame and possibly the tranny crossmember, throttle cable, and if i remember right the tbird motor is a rear sump oil pan.:Welcome:
p.s. what tranny are you planning on using?

like ededie said, do yourself a favor and go with the c-4. it's a good tranny. you can make the c6 work but you'll need to rearrang the tranny tunnel a bit.:)

    i have a 71 that was a 6 and i put a 302 in it

you will need 302 frame mounts.. look in a junkyard.. they are a lot cheaper there.. otherwise they are 149 bucks.. each..

i also went and bought 302 front coil springs and cut out a coil... my old 6 springs were worn out and with the extra weight the car would bounce alot.

the 302 fits nice, but it will be a little tight getting to the spark plugs, but it is the best way to go by far. while the engine is out, i would suggest dressing up the engine bay, clean it, paint it .. whatever.. its tight when the engine is in there, so its best to do it when the engine is out.

welcome to the board. you can pm anyone for more specific questions.. alot of us have done the conversion.
