ok so my car ran out of gas today so my mom comes out and trys to help me push it to it's spot in the driveway...(no go considering she sat in the car and decided to steer while i pushed up a slight hill =/) so it doesn't budge...o she trys to start it while it's bone dry...idk if that could hurt it or not, but when i went and got gas(about 1/4 tank) it has a really hard time starting and when it does start it sounds like it's turning over ridiculously slow or it's firing on a few cylinders and no others. this is a 200 ci I6. it wasn't in the greatest shape in the first place. it was also running fairly rich. i moved it to wash it. i checked the distributor for moisture but it didn't look like there was any. again, it was running fine until the tank ran dry...tank sediments maybe? but that would blow out right? i'm quite the novice, but i know my way around a little bit...any ideas?

it probably sucked up all the garbage in the bottom of the tank.. run some carb cleaner in the tank and let it idle for a while..

also go with a new fuel filter. if that doesn't get it, time to try your hand at rebuilding it. must be some crud found its way to the carb. before you do that, i have had some success screwing in the mixture screw all the way. remember exactly how many turns. then unscrew it. may crunch up some of the crud.

definitely try the easiest fix first, the filter. :)

i changed the filter and it still does the same thing, it sounds like it's firing on less than 6 cylinders...atmost 4, my dad said b/c the engine is running rich it might need new plugs. i have a while b4 i go get new plugs. since the carb is running rich, would it be a good idea to take it apart and rebuild it. this would be my fist rebuild, but i plan to get a 302 very soon so if i flub it, i'll just put the money for a new carb into a 302...thoughts on this. you think my problem is overly fowled plugs?
