Guys, We are all building our own technical library, everything from pdf's from the internet, repair guides from ebay, to the full offical repair manuals from ford. Most of the time we are asking for part numbers of the original item that we are holding in our hands, or we need the number to upgrade. Here is a thought......I do have one every now an then . I have 2 different pdf's of the repair guides, one is 1979 mitchell, the other one is unknown. If we could get 10 people with microsoft excel and each take a section of the repair manual (most of the sections are 10 to 30 lines long ) we could have a workbook that contains all the part numbers for the entire production of the car. I am sure someone out there has the comet version of the guides that can be done also. You don't have to have microsoft excel to help out use the open source office equivelent http://www.openoffice.org/ it is free. I think that we could also build a list of parts that cross over from the mustang line also. Well tell me what you think about it. It is just an idea I was tossing around last night while looking through the mustang parts sites and the year one catalog. Robert
:bananaman Great guys this will help out everybody... Come on over to my chat room at http://www.fordmaverick.info/ and we can start setting up a plan and i can share all my documents I have collected so far. Robert
i have setup a collaboration site on fordmaverick.info site using phpcollab but there is a problem uploading large files. I have uploaded the single scanned pages of the mitchell manual for the maverick. the site requires that the team members log in, the bad thing is i have to setup each user, there is no automated way to create a user. guess that is good to keep out the hackers. email me a username and password to robert.bailey(at)fordmaverick.info and i will set you up and email you when it is ready. I need your email and your name also to add to the profile, that way when documents are changed the system will notify all the team members. robert
yep got it and you are ready to go....I just sent godaddy support an email about the upload size problem.....beleive it to be the max packet size in mySQL where the files are stored. I spent a couple of hours on the project last night, we all need to figure out the best structure for the workbook and sheets so it is easy to read. we may also want to add a graphic of the area just like the manual. I also have several full years of the ford shop manuals that i can scan in and supply also. But i cant scan the whole set as they are glue binded. I just install a new copier here at the office a couple of months ago and it can do double sided scans and create PDF's and TIF's in nothing flat and email them anywhere.:bananaman That is how i did the stuff i posted and sent to Stefan.
