Or know of anyone using one of these carb spacers? It's a HVH super sucker....I've never used a spacer on my setup so I thought I'd give it a try.
The 2 setups that I do know that run them picked up 2-3mph and at least a full tenth versus an open plenum spacer they were using...the manufacturer boasts an 47 hp increase versus an open plenum spacer...pretty BIG boast if you ask me...I should have it on by Saturday.

Rick, I'm a firm believer in spacers. I haven't used that kind but have used others and can feel the difference.

i have a 2" spacer on mine.. when i first did my engine, i had it on, ran it that way for a couple days, then took it off, and i noticed a huge drop in power... put it back on and it was obvious that it works... so it has stayed on

It'll be great to see what it actually gains (or loses). It shouldn't take too much to change it out at the track (to compare back-to-back numbers).

As far as the "boasting" goes, I wonder if a car putting down 300 horses would gain 47 more? ;)

Good luck and keep us posted on the comparison. I certainly hope you gain from it.

When I had my motor dynoed....I had pulls made with and without a 1" open spacer. I it picked up a few ponies. I can't recall how many though. Maybe 5 or 10???

I've read both good and bad about the super suckers. Most (if not all) of the good reviews were 1000 HP big blocks with 1300 cfm+ alky carbs and all on dragsters running deep into the 4's. I've never heard of anyone using one with a low(er) HP engine and having any sort of luck with it. Yours may benefit but I seriously doubt mine would seeing how you're still using a 4 bbl carb and I'm still using a lousy 1bbl.

I have not used that type but have used other's. depending on cam, heads, and other factors, some work and some hinder. MPH gains is what I found with my combos (before I switched to the Ron's flying toilet and alky), but very litttle in the et. Getting a full tenth or two is usually from drastic mod's or adding good parts to a very mild combo. Better fuel atomization and swirl effect, plus a bunch of other stuff, can effect different engine's and hp and torque output. Still boils down to the fact that certain engine set-up's will only use x amount of fuel and air, no matter what carb or manifold is on it. EfI's and computer's, take most of the guess work out of it in those kind of engines. That spacer look's interesting though, keep us posted on your results.

a spacer is designed to reatomise the mix, and it will show benefit.

I put a 2" open spacer on a Performer intake, and "felt" a 15-20 HP increase (those are imaginary, in my head, seat of the pants horses). Had to sell it when I went to a single plane, as the hood wouldn't close anymore...

We don't have the HVH model but do have a similar design from Wilson Manifolds on the 512" BBF in Dad's Thunderbird. Added plenum volume which I feel attributed to the extra 3 mph. Throttle response and the leave off the transbrake also improved. Personally, I feel that is due to increased signal to the carb. The guys at Wilson stated that was the priority in designing the spacer like that. Give it a try. Couldn't hurt.
