Truth be told, I wouldn't have either of my Mavericks or The Ford Exchange if it weren't for Joy. My ex-wife wouldn't dream of having anything to do with this stuff...much less me having what I have. She encourages everything and participates. I'm vendoring at a big swap this weekend and she's right there, beside me all the way...not just in spirit, but physically there doing. Eat your hearts out, guys!!! :bananaman :bananaman
I am very fortunate my wife supports the family cruiser in a big way my kids enjoy it to!! As a matter of fact I told my wife I would build her, her own Maverick so she can cruise with my daughter, so that is one of the projects I have been working one for the last year. Hopefully I will have the mechanics done by Christmas!:bananaman
My wife wanted a new washer and dryer even though our old one still worked good, but instead she let me drive 16 hours round trip to buy my 75 maverick for 650 bucks. Man i love that woman.
As the woman I would have to say that I enjoy the fascination of my fiance. He loves his cars and more importantly he loves my car. He wanted to get a mav of his own a few years back but I wouldn't let him cause the mav is mine and only mine and the garage isn't big enough for two mavs. He enjoys fiddling with my carb (both of his are fuel injected), he hates changing the plugs (those with V-8's in 6 cylinder bodies will understand), and he loves to see me take the mav down the 1/4 mile track. I am lucky he supports my love and we make our obsessions work. Isn't that what all good relationships are built on, mutual respect for one another? Jeri*
Yes great support probally would not have v8 in our blue 76 if not for her i talked about it for a long time till she talked me into then she bought a 71 Grabber then we bought the Stallion then we bought the 71 4 door always done the buying together after we talked it over. Susan is a great wife and supporter.
the girlfriend likes the all my older cars, she thinks the mavericks sexy.. but we'll see how she feels after my funding comes back and i spend a lot of time in the garage but i think she'd rather have me in the garage getting dirty then in a bar getting drunk.. (well drunker) lol
Natalie supports the idea of my interest in Mavericks. She approves of my having a hobby, is glad that I get so much pleasure from mine, but doesn't get very excited about it herself. Nat doesn't give my Mav project a very high place on the priority list when it come to money allocation either. On the other hand, she responds considerably beyond "ya, aha, ummm, ya" to my run on chatter when I start talking about it (but she seldom brings up the subject herself). On the idea of attending cruises and shows when the car finally gets finished, she says "No way!", (or at least, not very often). Does she "support" my hobby? She loves me, and is made happy by most things that make me happy, so I'll have to say yes. John B.
Kinda Lisa's not really into cars, but she likes to get away and travel, so that is really what she looks forward to. She really enjoyed meeting everyone at Norwalk and the Roundup this year. She likes the people side of it.
Yes, Lauralea has been very supportive! Just when I thought I have reached my limit in Mavericking, buying one more Maverick/Comet has not always been a problem! When we remodel our house in the next couple of months, she has agreed to a big garage instead of a few details on the interior of the house. She has even given up her garden in the back yard for additional parking! :bananaman
yeah wes... i can vouch for joys' support! those who didn't know... a couple weekends ago, i met wes and joy at KLINGERS! a well planned weekend for 3 mav friends to get together and have a great time! dean had placed a mav on a-frames so i could bang off disc brake spindles while wes and joy were removing other goodies! shoulda seen it! wes on top of the car while joy was under getting dirty and being of great assistance. tie rod in one hand, handing me whatever i needed with the other,i'd say she (sorry bad pun) was quite a JOY to have around. makes one hell of a great french toast too!
I would say that my wife enjoys old cars as much as I do. She grew up with a street rodder for a father so has been around them all of her life. I had to do some converting but I guess we all have a secret love for all cars . Now she has her own Maverick and she only gets mad when she knows I am out in the garage messing with mine instead of hers But I love my wife and we share all of the same hobbies together and that is very important.
Rondi supports my habbits most of the time..........and I think she would support it more If I could start working on hers
My girlfriend likes the car. Heck, I built it at her house. Sometimes though, she doesn't understand why I spend so much time and money on somoething that gives me so much trouble. I just grin and bear it... Country
