hello all .i just put the c-4 trans back in my mav. drove it about 5 miles it pulled good but when i got home it was blowing trans. fluid out breather plug on top of trans.
fill it to the line on the tranny.. if it blows out again.. then there is something not right internally. you said you just oput it back in and drove it 5 miles.. what was it out for? overhaul? new one?
Sounded over full to me... It usually arerates really bad and turns to foam when over full. That is REALLY bad for the tranny if it does that. Dave
If it was to full it would aerate the fluid, blow it out and then it will check low till all the air gets out of the fluid, Let it set till cold then pull the dipstick, Also a loose converter can cause this problem, What fluid are you running? what converter? Is the cooler working? Were you beating on the trans? Worse case scenario high gear clutches slipping, 5 more miles should get them, Sometimes piston seals can be damaged during install and air check fine, but once in service not last long.
pulled out to replace gasket behind the pump because it was leaking for there put back in and now this problem.
9 quart capacity stock. When filling, add slowly until full. I usually put 2/3/or 4 quarts in before cranking.
its the dipstick that was in it when i bought the car. no just blowing out the breather plug. was working fine till i put the new gasket on
Good point. Has to be hot and running to fill and check. I usually idle mine to warm, then cycle through every gear for about 10 seconds each, and repeat several times. Then put in P, let it settle for a moment, then check. If I add any fluid, I find it beneficial to repeatedly and quickly "stab" the stick up and down to break up any bubbles that would keep the fluid from fully traveling in the pan and read wrong on the stick. Any time that I haven't done this, I have incorrect readings on the stick. Stab it up and down fast, clean the stick, then check. It will almost always be lower at that point that before you stab it. Assuming you added fluid in the last few minutes... Good luck Dave
i know a guythat rebuilds trans. he told me to buy the kit and he would rebuild it for a hundred dollars.
