I finished up the welding on my cage, it is all 1 5/8 mild steel, .134 D.O.M. tubing. It is built to NHRA specs so it should certify if I ever need it. The 90 degree plates that the rear bars go to, go through slits in the rear floor and weld to the subframe. I painted the tops before I lifted it up so all I have left to do is install the window net, sand and paint and install padding. The tubing notcher is not ny own design, but I did build it. It works awesome and makes for some nice fits. I left the forward hoops back away from the dash, to facilitate welding forward bars through the firewall to the engine compartment so that I can get rid of the inner fender wells and run coil overs.
just make an account at www.photobucket.com its free and you can put as many pics as you want and then you just put the link to here from there, and they make the link for you.. you just copy and paste it.. then you can put as many pics as you want
i was thinking about putting a cage in my car.. to stiffen it up and i like safety.. but i also think that a cage is cool to have.. not many cars have it.. but the fast ones do hehehe i will wait until i have some more power.. i bet that cage weighs a good 100 pounds
Cage photos on Photobucket This is the link for the cage photos. Also my notcher I built is there also. http://s174.photobucket.com/albums/w86/learaviator/
Looks nice, Steve. Looks like you've got all the tools to do some moon-lighting by building cages. I know a few guys around Houston who do it to make more money for go-fast parts.
Looks great Steve - How do you like that JD Squared bender? I have one of these bookmarked and was thinking one needs to be the next addition to the shop. What dies do you have? Cleaver
It works awesome, I have the air powered hydraulic ram on it also. I have 1 5/8, 1 3/4, and 1 1/4. The new degree wheel they sell with it is much better.
Looks alike like my roll cage, can you open the door? I had to relocate the door handle. Nice job! Terry
Yes, I had to trim about a quarter of an inch off of the bottom of the door handle, and I can't run a arm rest PAD, but the arm rest base is still there.
