Comets have good ignition switches in them

    When we went to get they comet they did not have the keys so we had to knock out the ignition switch to let it steer and get it out of gear and I have to say that it has a extremely tough one because it took dad about 30 mintutes with a hammer, chisel and crowbar to knock it out

    Easier to just pull the steering wheel up about a half inch. Of course...that doesn't get it out of gear. That requires crawling under the car.

    A cordless drill works real well :D Took about a minute and a half on my 74 Comet.:bananaman

    It took me less than 30 seconds to pick the lock and turn it to release the locking cam. Why ruin it when you don't have to?

    No wonder is was so easy to steal these things in the 70's.

    It isn't easy, I am just good!
    I have also gotten into a late model explorer in the same amount of time.
    You just have to know what you're doing.
