I was test fitting my small block and toploader in the car yesterday, and looks like my trans is a little to close to the top of the trans tunel. Are there diferant thickness trans mounts avalible? The one I have now is for a 67 mustang.

Seems like no one's interested to reply to your post. Dun know if I could help. :(

I think the tranny mount will fit perfectly if you buy one that's intentionally made for the tranny parts. Its thickness will depend on its parts. I used to have Mercedes transmission mount perfectly fit for my old car before I sold it then switched to comet.

As I recall I bought mine from a Mustang place. They are all alike. I am also running a toploader.

spork.. show us some pics as to what you mean...

there is only 2 tranny cross members... 1 hump and 2 hump.. both are identical in size, and placement of the tranny.. only difference is the dual hump is for dual exhaust..

The rubber mount is the same as a Mustang. Are you running a Maverick Crossmember?

Yes I am useing a maverick crossmember, and a mustang rubber mount.
when I install the mount between the crossmember and trans, I only have 1/4 inch clearance at the top of the trans. ( red arrow). (at the back of the top cover plate not the tail shaft)

1/4 is close, but no unreasonable.. if it isnt hitting its fine.. with engine torque, im not sure if it will hit.. only one way to see, torque it.. and drop the tranny a little and see if there is rubbing

otherwise you could weld the holes where the bolt goes through the frame and re drill new holes to lower the tranny another 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch

I can't get to my car right now to check it out. I know it is close in a couple of areas but not enough to worry about. I have driven the car pretty hard and nothing has hit yet. You will also need a Mustang speedometer cable. The Maverick one is too short to reach the right side. I believe I got one for a 70-72 with 4 speed.
