(I think this is the right area to post this under)

Yeah, that'd be ridiculous, wouldn't it?

While thumbing through other forums I saw this thread about S.A.N. (SEMA Action Network). SEMA being the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (for those who don't know). I checked out their website & it had all kinds of stuff about legislation currently in progress to control, change, and eliminate portions of mine & many other's automotive hobbies. Most of the items I had no knowledge of. Some of the items had already been lobbied and defeated, others not. Simple things like "you may not have a non-running vehicle parked on residential property". Well jeez in that case I would have lost my comet 6 months ago :p Other proposals are to make modifying vehicles illegal.

SAN's objective is to protect the interests of the automotive enthusiast/hobbyist. And, I'm sure, to protect their multi-million dollar market share of automotive aftermarket parts and supplies. Their site tells you exactly what is being proposed and what you can do to speak up. Right now too many of our rights and privileges are being modified in the interest of a few. If we don't speak up for ourselves, we will go unnoticed. You love cars... that's why you're on this webpage. Soooo.... go to www.semasan.com and become a member. It's free, and doing stuff for free always makes it 10 times better! (y)

Speak up before local Car Shows, Cruise Nights, and Amateur Car Racing is a thing of the past!
Your grandchildren (and the other kids like me on the forum, haha)
    will thank you!

Just joined!! Yeah, some of these new laws people are trying to pass are pretty rediculous. Long live the restorers of classic cars, especially Mavericks/Comets!!:D

Not well enforced but the above quote has been in effect in my county for as long as I can remember.

If all the laws can't be enforced now......does making more new laws make sense? Just a bunch of lawyers preying on peoples emotions.

When the price of scrap steel went up about a year and a half ago because of energy and foreign steel taxes, all the local yards crushed out lots and lots of old cars. Funny how things work around money.

Hey, my area is kinda like that now...They can come check anytime for tags and liability insurance, and no non-running cars around.

    Yeah, it's ridiculous.

If some idiot from the town told me to move my Comet, I'd push him under the tires and roll it on top of them.

Of course, here in hicksville USA it's not really going to happen, but if we don't watch it, even us people on the fringes of civil-i-zation will be threatened! I guess it's aimed at all the people with their trans ams & irocs decorating the yard

Or I guess you could just cover it in a camo tarp and pretend it's not there. :p

I wouldn't want my neighbours yards filled with old cars, it would look like crap. I've spent the money to build a garage to keep my stuff in, and they should do it if they want to work on their cars.
My biggest problem with the city is the number of lettered work vechicles I can have here at once, I have one and my wife drives one, there both new, they don't look junky....but thems the rules :(
