    Hey,
I just bought my first Maverick, a 1970 Grabber. It came with no keys and the column is locked. Is there anyway to release this. It is setting at an angle on my trailer and I can't get it off until I can turn the wheels.
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Darin Ewer Providence, Utah.

Remove the steering wheel. The lock is a pin that goes into the back of the steering wheel.

Take the door lock assembly out, take it to a locksmith. He can make a key for it. Same key fits the ignition.

IF The door lock hasn't been changed or a different door installed. It's worth a try, but in a 37 year old car, what are the odds either the door lock or ignition switch one hasn't been changed?

on my 73 comet the ignition didn't work the door. so I was thinking to myself "what are the odds of getting it keyed. then when I took off the fender guess what I found....an old rusty tin with a magnet, i pryed it open and found 4 extra keys...what a find...LOL.

jus thought i'd share since its slightly related.
