Found a '59 ford with complete 9 inch for $75. I have to take it out. Should have it by the weekend. My bud is also getting a '60 Ford F100 and I get the choice of chunks. I'm hoping the truck has a 3.70 or 3.89. I think it is a 6 cylinder so the odds are pretty good. Don't really know what to expect in the '59. Maybe a 2.75 or 3.00. What do you guys think? Good deal?

So what is good low end price, I hope to attend an event this saturday and one of the items reads "various for “nine inch” complete rear ends.

Anytime you can get a pre-'60 9 inch rear end for less than $250 you have done very, very well. They are the most coveted rear end by the hot rod boys. The smooth back is the desired look for something like a '32 Highboy. I got one on a drag car I bought and it will find its way on to my '73 Grabber. I have shortened 9 inch for the drag car.

the 57 is the narrow one. that fits the maverick without any mods. check one of thecharts for rear end widths. you'll end up adding the cost of narrowing the rear end and axles unless you get the right width. buyer beware.:)

i was going to gt a 9" for free just before i left arizona, but passed on it since i would have to haul it here and then find somewhere to put it..

it was gonna run me 1500 for a complete rebuild and to chop it down to fit the maverick, in arizona prices.. out here.. i found a place to do it all for 1000.. still to high for me.. so i stick with the 8, until i need the 9

Just for the record the '59 Ford axle ratio turned out to be 3.10:1. I still haven't checked the '60 Ford Pickup with six cylinder. I am hoping for a 3.70 or 3.89.
    We shall see.

Hope the car and the truck have the same spline count...

    Good score!

    The ones I've had in the past did. Pulled A 28 spline 3.89 from a '62 F100 and a 3.70 from a 71 model. Both were 6 cylinders.

I know I'm boring everyone with my 9" report but I'm excited about getting this rear end. Made the swap for the 3.70. Both were 28 spline axles. Only issue I have is I need to install a filler plug in my 9" housing since the truck chunk doesn't have a filler plug.
