What would cause my alternator from receiving any juice from the battery. The alternator connection is always hot, but now there is no current flow to it. There is current to the solenoid (used a remote to jump) and current to my fan relay (hooked up seperate with toggle). No electrical anything, lights, brakes, etc., Any assistance is appreciated.:tiphat:

Well for my 76 comet my brake lights and blinkers didn’t work. So I got a new signal switch from (mean_maverick) that sits right behind the steering wheel. im not sure if that has anything to do with it and I wouldn’t really recommend switching the switch until you get that alternator problem fixed.... and if the lights still don’t work then further the investigation into the switch.... heehe

Not too concerned with the lights right now (they worked before). Just wondering why the bettery terminal on the rear of the alternator is not getting any juice?

Another question: I took off the ignition module (the ecm looking box on the drivers side fender) and I do believe it's fried (it was all gooed and oozing crap from the back side. Could this be the culprit? Should I replace it with a similar product or is there a better aftermarket piece?

Battery power to the alt is through a fusable link. Most likely it is blown.

That sure looks like the problem... But I wouldn’t know where to get the part. Im sure if the store has it, it wouldn’t be bad to get it but im not the expert. Let’s wait a few hours im sure someone will know exactly what is wrong with it....

The fusable link is right after the connector on the solenoid. It says "Fusable Link" right on it. You cant buy them anywhere that I have found and I could never find a rating listed for them. Best bet is to get one from a junked car. Easily checked with a Ω meter.

Found the problem....:slap: a couple of wires were'nt connected. Also, replaced my electric oil pressure gauge with a mechanical and it shows great pressure. Still have a problem with the cooling though. I removed the thermostat and ran it like that. After 5-10 minutes, it's extremely hot and the hoses swell. Looks like I'll be looking at a new radiator, what do ya'll think?
