I got in contact with Nick at Doug Thorley Headers and he told me today that they will be replacing my headers with a new set. I never doubted that they would stand behind their products anyone one who has a pair of DT headers knows that they are a fine piece of work and my intentions were not to bad mouth DT headers. I knew that they would do right thing, so they told me that they are going to send me a new pair of headers and a call tag to send the old ones back
Recieved Roland's headers yesterday and mocked them up on my spare motor at work today. Basically, one of the holes had a build up of coating in it and some how slipped by our qc department. This caused the bolts to go into the head at a slight angle. Talking to Roland when he called we both decided to have him ship the headers back for my evaluation (at our exp.). He has nice aluminium heads and we did not want to risk stripping out bolt holes. Although this is a minor problem and could easily be fixed in the field, it is my "strict policy" to pull the product off the shelf and inspect each item for fit anytime one customer has a potential problem . The warehouse personel love me . I personally, have intiated a policy on the manufacturing side to track production flaws by stamping the part with a date code which will indentify the employee that assembled the part. This puts accountibilty out in the open and pretty much guarantees that the parts we make are of the highest quailty possible. In most cases, I discover that the issue is an isolated one and we correct potential problems for the future. I take quaility control issues very seriously . This issue was directly atributed to an outside vendor and I will be contacting them to discuss this issue very soon. Roland, your headers shipped back out today with surprise inside. enjoy
honorable hell yea these guys kick major a$$ and I will buy many more headers from them for any future car I ever build and I never doubted that they would stand behind their product. I knew that they would fix the problem. I am an experienced mechanic with many years of field experience working on wharf cranes and container moving equipment. I know that I could have used a die grinder to repair the problem and offered to do so as long as the modification would not void the warranty. However, the people at DT suggested that I send them in so they could verify that the problem. They did this and they are going to send them back to me and a t shirt for my troubles I'm very pleased with the headers all I wanted was to put them on and I will do that when I get them in the mail.
