In my opinion a 6cyl should be as quiet as possible. Don't want it to sound like a ricer! Just my 2 cents.

The best flowing fiber packed muffler that I know of is the Dynomax Race Bullet.
And as a bonus, they are very inexpensive.
I ran a 3"x12" race bullet on my 98 Z28 (they got the single exhaust that looks like duals at the back) and it sounded great.

    I have a 3.5"x12" on a PSD truck too.

These things flow like open pipe.
They make them in 18"L versions too, up to around 5" diameter pipe.
I have no idea how they would sound on an I6.

Friend of mine did the same muffler and recorded it:

when i had my i6 in the car, i had a purple straight muffler (exactly like cherry bomb but not their name on it) and a straight pipe out the side of the passenger side of the car. it worked fine, but would get your pant leg black if you stood by it

now that i have a 302 in it... i have a dual exhaust routed up over the axle and out the corners of the rear bumper. all i need to do to it now, is get tips welded on, after i paint the car.
