Gonna try and post a couple of pictures of the car I just painted. Keep in mind this is my first paint job and while there are a few spots that aren't perfect, most folks won't notice them. Also, the old addage the pictures don't do the car justice holds true here. Overall, I'm very happy with the results and I appreciate all the help I got from this board. Dave

    Looks great.
A lighter color like that is the best to start with.
Dark colors need alot of experience to do right.

Is that a vinyl top, or just painted on?
I ask because I was one of the unfortunate that kept a vinyl top and my roof rotted slap out!
I decided that if I ever have a vinyl top car, I am going to strip it clean and paint it back on for the look, without the rot.

    Re:

Thanks for the comments. It represent many hours of rubbing and rubbing. It is a vynle top. I was fortunate as there was only a couple of tiny rust spots starting to form under the old top. I sprayed POR-15 over the top of the car before putting on the new top. I'm not sure if you've ever seen the product before but it definitely will prevent any rust from ever forming on the roof again. I also used it in the gas tank. After the car sat for a couple of years, I kept getting rust pieces clogging up the fuel filter. The POR-15 tank sealer kit did the trick. I would highly recommend this stuff to address all your rust problem and fixing needs.

That is a pretty strong word to use when you just put the stuff on.

I have heard of it, and it may work, but I have such a bad taste from my experience that I just won't do it. Besides, if you have ever seen a car that has the vinyl trim installed, but paint where the vinyl should be, they look great. Added value of no extra weight or rust liability.

    Car looks great though!
Makes me want to repaint my yellow 75... Gotta put the new roof on first though.

    Very Nice .... :)

You should have notched your late model fenders before painting them ... they won't work with the small bumpers.

Nothing to be ashamed of there. Not only a nice fresh paint job, but you also have the knowledge and confidence to try it again.
