I saw a 1972 Sprint in the boneyard today. To try and verify, I scraped through about 15 layers of paint and came up with the same paint scheme as the one in this thread. I also took the VIN tag and the body tag from it was laying on the ground with a corner of it still screwed to the body. So, for the registry, here goes: VIN: 2X91T218498 Body tag: 0436 25 MV62A 29 (The 29 part was still on the car) T218498 RMLR 16 9A WHT SPR WHT On the 3rd line (where the Huh smiley is ) in front of the RMLR there was what looked like a number 3 stamped completely through the plate followed by a space and then it had a dash mark or a number 1 stamped completely through. These numbers were "laying" down sideways on the plate, if that makes sense? When I compare it to MapleMavs Sprint body tag which is here: http://www.mmb.maverick.to/attachment.php?attachmentid=18092&d=1161122580 it appears that it may be a Canadian Sprint at that! The tags are nearly identical. The drums on the car had the word Canada on them. It had the 200 straight six. The engine turned over by hand and had good compression too. The seats were white with the blue inserts bordered by the red piping. It had the seat belt light in the dash. White interior with the black seatbelts in the rear. It had the package tray and the original AM radio with the bezel on it. Oh, and I got the front rock guard, the radiator and the boomerangs and will see in the next couple of days what condition they are in. I do believe there was a small pit in there that I could see. Either way they are in better shape than the ones I have now. The line that it was in was marked to be sent to the crusher. It may be gone tonight or tomorrow. Also had the opportunity to talk to a guy while I was there pulling parts off. The guy said he had just sent a Grabber and another Mav to one of the yards nearby. I am going to see in the next couple of days. The guy said that he bought them for the engines (V8) and then was selling the other parts on Ebay. The cars were supposedly factory stick shift cars and he took everything out of them to, you guessed it, to sell on Ebay. Double damn. I am going to try and see if I can get some of the linkages.
That is too bad...we need the parts and they are getting shipped off to the crusher faster than we can find them....
I would as the undercarriage is in pristine condition. The quarters have the usual rust but the car is definitely salvageable. Front bumper is atraight but has been painted over. Rear bumper is bent in the middle but I am pretty sure the bumper brackets could be salvaged. It would also need a hood. It is a big sheet of bondo. It is a 4 lug car. And I know this is a surprise, its a 2 door automatic with the 200 I6.
I could ask, the worst they could say is NO. I will call them tomorrow and see if they still have it.
PICS WE NEED PICS!!!!!! What do you think it would take to buy the whole thing? I think a maple leaf Sprint HAS to be more rare than a stars and stripes sprint! If you really need a floor pan I have on in a comet I would part with if the Sprint Maple version can be salvaged. Find out and we can talk. Did i mention GET PICS!!!! Someone on here can surely save this thing if at all possible. Jerryfow2
Sorry guys, I checked in on the Sprint the next day and it was for sure GONE. It seems I need to go to that salvage yard at least once a week now since summer is here.
The interior looked like this one here. The pics are in post #9. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=28870&highlight=sprint+tag
