Does anyone know if JC Whitney has the rear leaf springs in stock yet? There's a place in Cedar City, Utah that builds their own springs and can raise the height to your specs, but they're very expensive.......$350.00. They can add a leaf to your existing springs also and at a lessor price. JC Whitney is $120 plus free shipping....almost 3 times the price. My Grabber has just turned 20k miles and was sitting for quite a few years (almost 20). Someone told me that it's the daily driving that weakens them and sitting will preserve them. Is this true and is it possible that I don't need rear springs? If I do decide to get the springs in Cedar City, would you guys take the opportunity to have the rear raised (since he can build them with more lift) and if so......how much should I lift? Will it throw any of my front end or handling off? I was also told by the guy that did my front end alignment that putting new leaf springs on WILL NOT affect the front end alingment and I won't need to have it re-alligned. I was always under the impression that when the rear springs are replaced, you should have the cars front end aligned. Any ideas? Thanks, Craig

I took mine to a local company GITT SPRINGS and had them rearch them & add a forth spring. Also had them rearched to be 1" higher than stock. The cost was $65 each. Came back with new rubber between the springs & painted a nice black. Why pay an arm & a leg? They work great.....Think local.....

It is not necessary for J.C. Whitney to have them in-stock, as they will ship them to you directly from the manufacturer. They are good quality springs and cost only $120 for the pair...

I recommend the JC Whitney Springs also. I have them & love them!(y)
If your car will be driven daily be aware that raising the rear will wear your front end parts out much faster. Raising the rear will transfer more weight to the front. Most of us do raise the rear some for bigger tires. Mine are occasional drivers though. :yup: Good luck.

    J. C. Whitney told me three months or more in March, or there is a guy on E-bay with them for $50.00 more, but he has them now.

I got my 4-leaf springs from here last month since JCWhitney said they wouldn't be able to get them for several months...they are $99 each.

I haven't got them installed yet but they look good. Should have them in by the end of May.

I didn't have to wait long at all to get mine from J.C Whitney a couple years ago. They told me it would take longer than it did. That may have been deliberate (to under-promise and over-deliver). In any case, I was a happy camper...

As noted in my previous post, these springs from General Springs are now $99.99 each for the 4-leaf units. I think they raised their price when everyone started calling them... The post for $138 must have been before the price increase. If you check their website it reflects this pricing. Still a pretty good deal considering there are some people trying to sell these for $300 to $400 or so per set.

I misunderstood, I thought that meant $138 per pair!
