saw a '73 looking grabber today...talked to the owners dad. he saaid his son bought it from an "old man" that bought it new...good so far. i took the vin # down and found this...4x91t ...the car has '73 front and rear bumpers and the grabber rear spoiler...302 2v... 3 on the tree...5 lug drums all around. i left the info. so he could find us...maybe he can tell us more about the car... ... ...
Re: #'s don't match Hi 71gold, Let me just chime in to say that all '73's were 5 lug, and (I think) could be had with the 302 2v and 3 speed on the tree. The front bumper was "medium" sized (smaller than '74 and on) and the rear bumper was the same size as '72 and earlier. For what it's worth. Regards, BaldEagleMav
My guess is the vin on the dash was changed. Look and see what style of seat belts it has. 1974 had the shoulder belt and lap belts together and spooled inside the rocker panels.
Both my 70 Maverick and 71 Maverick Grabber have 5 lug drums on all 4 corners. The 70's suspension came from a wrecked 71 Grabber.
if i remember right the 73 was kinda a bastard. mixed with left over 72 parts. mine has a package tray instead of the glove box.i think thats because its an early 73. mine also has two vin number stamped on the fender apron.i guess they didnt know if it was coming or going.
74 and back could be 4 or 5 lug; Most, and I say most 250 cars and all 302 cars up to 74 had 5 and the 200 and down had 4 lugs. I have seen at least (2) 250 4 lug cars, L code and all on both tags. The 75 up cars were all 5 lug. I know discs were available in the 74 and up cars, not sure on the 73 and earlier cars. My factory order sheet states the disc were a required option on the F code 302 cars. But 73 bumpers on a 74 car is entirely possible, I did it with mine, as have many others. rk
