I hope to do a 5.0 swap from my Mustang GT to a Maverick and wonder if the intake manifold will clear the hood. I really want to keep the fuel injection. My engine still runs awesome but the body and chassis are to a point i don't want to invest any more money into it. Thanks ahead for any help.
I was afraid of that but what about a 94-95 Mustang 5.0 throttle body adapter which angles slightly. I could probably fabricate something if necessary. I want to use the stock speed density system which has no MAF sensor. Has anyone out there made this swap?
check this hey BIGbully .... thats a name ...... check this thread and ask these authors ..... http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=902&highlight=efi+swap do a search for efi swap and you can find 4 or 5 similiar threads ........Robert
Comp Cams make an after market upper intake thats smaller than stock it would work nicely for a mav ... Its listed in the P.A.W catalog for about $300.00 it would really help if you wanted to keep the power brakes ... It also adds 20 hp
Thanks guys I'll check out the info. I've been out of town for a while so I haven't been on top of things lately. I really appreciate the help. BIGbully get it. Like a Maverick steer, some people probably overlook it. My personalized plates for my car are going to say "BULLY" .
I know this is an old post but what was involved with the swap. I see on my car that the accelerator cable bolts in the same as the maverick and attaches to the pedal the same. what about pwr steering stuff. do i need to user the maverick pump with the stang pulleys and brackets. just curious. I may keep my maverick if i can make it newer.
Big Bully, Hood clearance is no problem. I used a 88 mustang GT 5.0 mass air engine and related parts (ECM and wire harness) factory firewall k.brace cannot be used. I used 88 gas pedel and cable to make install. Go to general dis. and find Fun Ford weekend post there is a picture of my car with hood opened. Any question fill free to write back. dieselmoble1176@msn.com Hope that helps Jay
On my particular ('90 Mustang) EFI intake, the highest point is the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). It actually 'just touches' a lift-off glass hood that I have. But nothing serious enough to cause alarm at this point in my build.
