Hey yall, whats up? Im new to the forum but I got a '74 Comet in need of restoration and was wondering where to find parts, what I know I need for sure is brake shoes, brake master cylinder, maybe a new carb (depends on price since I hate fixing them). I was also thinking of converting the front into a disc brake system but idk bout that yet, any help would be great.
So let me get this straight.. You are the uNKNOWN Comet? Any relation to the unknown Comic from the Gong show???? Most of the parts you listed can be obtained from any part store. Other than that there are lots of parts on Ebay and lots of guys on this site have parts they are willing to sell. Check the for sale section on this board first. Top notch bunch of peeps on here that are always willing to help someone out
Welcome to the board! Yep, lots of parts here for sale, post what you need, and people let you know if they have it. Got one 74 Comet parts car right now, myself. rk
haha no if I am, then it mustve been in my past life cause that is long before my time, Im only 17 , I meant to type uNKNOWN but was in a hurry, sounds pretty cool as uknown though sounds like you known, lol idk man, never mind me Im out of it hey draggon13, quick question, I saw yours has a 302, but Im more interested in the carb on it, is it a 4 barrell or 2 barrell carb? or do you know how many barrells the stock carb on a 250 is? you see my car isnt where i live, its about 45 minutes from where I am at my dads friends body shop and I havent had much time to tinker with it since I was finishing up a transmission job with my dad, btw how much would you sell your 302 for? Im not interested in it now, but maybe soon cause Id probably kill myself with that much power right now and im pretty sure it needs an overhaul, does it even run? bent rods or anything? togetic2002, thanks for that bit of info, over here we get everything from a place called keystone, Ill check it out completely when I have more time

I only have 6 cylinder parts cars. The inlines used in the Mavs and Comets were of the Falcon line and have and intregal intake manifold, as in part of the head and not removable and they are all of a 1 barrel design, well in the US anyway, Australia is a shorthorn of another color, it gives you the option of a 1 barrel only. I do have a 1V to 2V adapter, weber 2V and custom air cleaner available, listed in the parts for sale, for $200 plus shipping if you are interested. Other than that, I have sheet metal parts and some interior stuff, no spare V8s other than my 1990 5.0 roller that is waiting on machine work and a stroker upgrade. rk
haha I was a bit confused, I confused you with this thread http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=32718 lol, sorry bout that bro Yeah, I saw that australian header and intake assembly, but it was 899, i think the adapter would be better for right now, but first things first, brake shoes are like glued to the drum or something, damn car cant roll, you see I bought it off an old lady for 300 about say 2 years ago, she had it sitting on her lawn snce like 81 or 82, when i first got it, me and my dad got it to start with about 3 cans of starter fluid after replacing the oil (hasnt been started since), and aparently she didnt know what an oil change was cause that oil was blacker than night, lol anyways, first Im gonna change out the brakes so i can actually push it into a bay to work on, then comes the engine, i can all ready imagine it, gonna be all nasty, when i get there hopefully you'll still have that adapter ill buy it then , ill try and post pics of it as soon as i go back out to sandia to ummm.... "play" with it BTW, sorry forgot to introduce myself, my names Brian, nice to meet yall been really helpfull
There is a salvage yard called Daley Auto Salvage in Columbus, TX with 7 or 8 mavericks and comets. But many are "salvaged", so it is an issue of just picking through them to find what is left. I also found a 72 Comet in San Antonio, but I have the front fenders, passenger door, and another guy on here has the driver door. PM me if you want the name of the place, I think it was Al's Westside or something like that, but I can get you the correct name and address when I get home and find the receipt.
aight awesome bro, yeah if you could get me the name of the place in san anton that be great, if I cant find what I need then I guess Ill go to Columbus, hopefully during Boctoberfest so I can go to Shiner while Im at it
