Removing control valve What specifically is giving you trouble in removing your control valve? Disconnect all the hoses going into the control valve. Remove the pitman arm from the ball stud. Remove the clamp that holds the ball stud sleeve to the end of the centerlink. Inside the clamp, you will see a slot in the end of the sleeve. There should be a short rollpin sticking out of this slot that goes into a hole on the centerlink. Pull out this rollpin. Unscrew control valve and ball stud assembly off the end of the centerlink. Check the rebuilt control valve that you bought and make sure they replaced the aluminum hose seats inside the hose ports on the control valve. A lot of rebuilders leave the old grooved seats inside. If the seats aren't new , even new hoses probably won't seal properly.
ive got all teh hoses off and everything im having trouble getting the the arm off teh top of it and removing teh valve...
You mean removing the stud from the pitman arm? You need to use a puller to pop the stud out of the pitman arm. Don't use a "pickle forK" - it will damage the ball stud sleeve. If you don't have a puller, you can often borrow one at an auto parts store, or buy a cheap one from Harbor Freight. http://www.stangerssite.com/tools.html
ok ive got the puller and i am taking the arm off but how do i get that pin out? cuz it doesnt pull out or skrew it looks like...
If you are talking about the rollpin thatgoes into the centerlink - you can't hammer it out because it fits in a blind hole and doesn't go through. The way I remove them is to grip it with a pair of wire cutters, like you are trying to cut it off, only tighten down on the cutters enough to get a grip on the metal rollpin, then pull the pin straight out by levering it with the cutters against the ball stud sleeve.
Oops, I guess I should have looked at mine before posting. It's been a long time since I changed one out.
