I have this on going problem maybe some of you guys can help me out.
on my 71, the driverside door If i lock the door I can't unlock it. I can get it eventually but it's a rea son-of-a-gun to do. there appears to be nothing wrong with none of the rods on the inside as I have pulled everything out and put it back together again nothing missing, broke or bent other than the factory bends. Could it be in the striker itself?
Any help, suggestions or ideas will be much appreciated? Thanks in advance.

    You said it!!!

Additionally take a look at your worn out key, but then I suppose that would have an affect on all the tumblers???

Your latch may have somewhat jumped time....just like any other, these do tend to wear out. Try pushing down on the lock button, then unlocking with the key.

If the rod going up to the outside door lock has any tension on it at all, it will cause this problem. Pull the rod off and see if it works ok. If it does, adjust the rod length so that it literally falls back in the hole.
