Last weekend, a small town close to me had their summer festival, so I entered the Maverick for fun. The cars drove through town, then parked on the main street for the spectators to view the vehicles. The kids enjoyed the drive, but as soon as we parked, their focus went to the rides at the carnival. I spent four hours with them there, and they rode most of the rides more than once. By then it was 10:00 PM and the fireworks started, so we watched those before heading back to the car. I missed most of the actual car show, and I didn't win anything, but the kids had a great time. I'm sure now they will think "all" car shows have the same atmosphere (with a carnival and all, lol) and will want to go with me! Anyway, it was fun to get the car out for it's first "official" viewing. Art
Hey Art Always great to get out for a viewing. What town did you have the show in. I am from Stockbridge, inbetween lansing and Ann Arbor. I will let you know of anything local here and hope you would do the same for me. My cars aren't in show condition yet,but I still like to take them out. Yours looks GREAT!!!!
I too just participated in my first car show since the 80's. It was great! A quick and funny story. While my kids were very excited about going my wife, well, wasn't so much! She came over on Saturday for an hour or so and was somewhat ho-hum about the whole thing. When I got home that day I mentioned that there was a cruise that night downtown with several city blocks closed just for the show cars, 650 of us! She and the girls said they did not want to go! So I got ready to leave at about 6pm. Just as I was leaving they came outside and reluctantly got in the Maverick. Well, when we turned onto the main drag of town there were at least 2500 people lining the sidewalks cheering the cars on! The Maverick got a LOT of attention. Needless to say we got home at 9pm and Monday she went out and bought a pop-up awning for the NEXT car show so that she can attend all day! I think I am set!!!
Thanks for sharing Art nice looking Mav. you got there, we went to a big cruise about 20 mi. away last Sat. they block off downtown and you can cruise had a lot of fun they had over 700 cars.
I know at my show I was. Not even a comet there. A lot of Fords however. Including a 64 1/2 mustang with the 260 and 18,000 miles! Easily won its class! WOW!
Cool, I'm looking forward to "my first" too! Beautiful car you have there, and some great looking kids as well.
