    I hate to admit it, but back in the early days I had absolutely no interest in Mavericks what so ever. All I had ever owned were Mustangs and I was pretty loyal to them. They had always been dependable and fun to drive. By the time the early 1990's had rolled around my last Mustang had become, shall we say, less than depenable. It was tired. Hell, it was just plain worn out. I live in a pretty hilly part of the state and the Mustang had reached a point were it needed a good running start to make it to the top of the next hill. I had to have a good dependable car to get to and from work in, and the Mustang just wasn't cutting it anymore. As much as it pained me, it was time to part ways with my Mustang and find a newer car. That is where the Maverick I now own stepped up to the plate. The time was right, the offer was made and the deal was closed. I went from owning a barely moving 1968 Mustang to a V8 powered peppy 1977 Maverick. In many ways the Maverick reminded me of the 1969 Mach 1 I had once owned. It was quick, responsive, and above all, dependable. Not only that, it was quite the attention grabber. The Maverick started to grow on me real fast. I began to see the potential these cars could have and my loyalty to the Mustangs soon faded. I did not own a computer until 2001, so I had no idea that these cars were becoming so popular again. The first time I fired up that new computer and discovered how much interest there was in these cars and then finding this site ( Thank you Stefan:) ), I knew I had made a great decision when I gave up my Mustang for a Maverick.

    I got hooked in July 1970. I had been out of college 1 year and decided it was time to treat myself to a new car. The 60 Falcon I was driving at the time was shot, barely running. I was tired of buying old junks and running them till they were dead. I had wondered if I started with a new car, how long would it last. I saw this beautiful gold/black Maverick Grabber sitting in the lot of the local Ford dealership, so I ended up buying it. Never regetted it. Needed something economical as teaching did not pay that great and I already had two boys. The Maverick was perfect. I still have it and it still runs. Lots of memories of vacations. Used it as my daily driver for about 15 years. I store it on a farm in the country and go out occassionally to run it around the section. It has 264,+++ miles on it. WOW! I did a minor overhaul on it myself once. Just pulled the head and took it in for a valve job. Replaced rings and bearings while I was messing with it. Did it without pulling engine. Did not do anything to crank, just slipped top main around. Since finding the MCCI, I have bought 2 other Mavs that are road worthy. One I just accidently found sitting out in the next town with a for sale sign. Both of them were 1 owner and in very good condition. The 77 is a 2 door with 48,+++ miles and the 75 is a 4 door with 51.+++ miles.

    I knew where one was that could be fixed easily and cheaply and it had a 302, plus i liked the body style. mainly not every one and there dog has one around where i live and i didn't want a mustang.
