I am at work, my son called said gas was dripping from the hose that goes into the fuel sender unit to the metal line. Anyone happend to know what size to get on my way home? Same a trip. TOM
Yep. 3/8 from the tank to the pump, 5/16 from the pump to the carb. There are 3 rubber lines from the tank to the pump. One right out of the tank, one under the driver's seat under the car, one where the steel line goes into the engine compartment in front of the driver's tire. If one is leaking, might as well replace all three unless you have recently. It won't be over 2ft of 3/8 fuel line total.
Will get some and new clamps in the way home. I have some 5/16 was not sure if that would fit or not. Need to just get the one from dipping on the driveway tonight done. I'm sure all the gas will run out while I change it right? any pressure on it back there is not on? I have not changed a gas line in 30 years, goggles and bucket.
Jack up the drivers side of the car as high as you can before you take it out and you'll save a lot of gas.
some are 3/8"...some are 5/16".. my '73 is 3'8"...i got a sender out of a '71 and it was 5/16". get 18" of both... ... ...
Thanks, 3/8" was right. Took about 10 minutes - 2 head bumps , not much gas came out, I used a golf tee to block the hose end on the top side while I put the hose on fuel line, the quick pull off and insert on for the sender, only got a few oz of gas in plastic pan. Think this might have been orig, has cheap OEM clamps and Ford part number partially appears on the hose.
