Hey Guys, Anyone know where I can get a high-quality rubber transmission pan gasket for a c-4? I have had NO luck whatsoever with the cork types, and I'm getting tired of the leaks, and replacing them! Any help appreciated! Thanks,
Fel-Pro Fel-Pro offers a "Rubber Fiber" gasket. Fisher Auto Parts (if you have one near) O'Reilly and I believe Advance Auto handle Fel-Pro. CarQuest handles VictorReinz gaskets, they may have something as well. Dave
Just got back from picking one up. Autozone here didn't have one. Advance did. Looking forward to seeing if it makes any difference. Later,
Jegs list this part number, I want one too. 375-TOS18634 http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product2_10001_10002_753266_-1
I've never had one not leak. It's impossible to not have fluid running onto the sealing surface, which is the kiss of death. You'd have to let the tranny drain for days before it stopped running out. Waiting anxiously your results.
I let mine drain "for days" and it never stopped dripping out. It dripped for over a week before I had a chance to make and install the gasket. I think the bigger culprit is the crappy thin metal on the pan. I don't think we can ever bolt it on exactly right without warping it to some extent...
I installed a drainplug in mine and change the fluid 3 times for every filter! Don't get leaks that way, when I changed the deep pan filter I put a thin layer of grease on both sides of the cork gasket! Also it's a good idea to punch the bolt holes the other way so you get more force on the gasket. I will try the Fel-Pro though. Thanks for the Jeg's # Richard
Why not get a cast aluminum pan the rails won't bend on it. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_748607_-1_10539
I have to disagree with that......I use brake cleaner(with alcohol), I also wipe down the inside of case as far as I can reach to get any oil/tranny fluid that will cause a problem....It works for me, I'm a happy camper
I use a very thin coat of gasket maker by loctite on both sides of the pan gasket. Just snug it up, wait for twenty minutes, bolt it down. No leaks - ever!
