calm doun guys!ha hahaha well theres only 1/8 mile hear and the ricers are few and cheap i want to run carb and a stroker kit.im looking for set up ideas or someone who has a holly 650 d pump and a str kit to see what it runs on the street.
kurt i have an 85 mustang with a 347 that has run 12.43 1/4 which i think is about 7.9 in the 1/8. im not sure about the carb that is on it but this car has everything from radio to a/c to power steering, all the bells and whistles. right now we let it shift itself at 4900 and it goes through the 1/4 at 6000 and is running about 13.30(8.4 in the 1/8).( we used to shift at 6 and go through at six but we changed to and auto valvebody and a different converter.) the car weighs about 3400 lbs and this is at a track at 3000 ft above sea level. i hope this helps you out some and gets some others to chime in with their setups
not bad for sothin that has a/c and stuff i want to put the str kit in and a mid rise intake with a 650 double pumper.but thanks that gives me a gnral idea.
I just had a 347 built for $3200 complete except carb & distrubutor. Has an Eagle rotating assembly, Procomp aluminum heads w/ 2.02, 1.60 stainless valves, roller rockers, Crane cam, Edelbrock Torker 289 intake, has 10.3:1 compression ratio. I put a used Holley 750 and a stock distributor with the Crane xr-i electronic unit in it and a 2300 stall converter. And with the stock c4 and 2.79 pegleg rear I got beat by about a car length in an 1/8th mile by an '06 GTO, and I annihilated the tires off the line
Mine isn't doing anything but sitting on jackstands for the past year and a half. But, when it did have the 347 in it (w/ victor jr. heads), it would run on pump gas and I drove it ALOT on the street. However, it was NOT making 800-900 hp like you claim your 347 makes, and unless you've changed your heads, I believe you are running victor jr's also. You must have had your jr's worked on a much better CNC machine than I had mine on.
.....and just so Comketkurt can have some form of comparison (for the sake of the thread). I had right at $6500 in my my 347 longblock ( not including the ignition system, carburetor and all the accessories) and it did a best of 6.83 on just motor (1/8th mile) and 6.08 on a 250 shot of n2o. All the HP estimators that I used gave it about 700 hp on nitrous, at the flywheel. What did yours cost, and what does it run?? I'm curious since it has about 800-900 hp.
Stop buy i'll get you a ride, you won't be laughing when you need to change your shorts....We will thats a FACT. Bill
Sorry Bill, 'gonna have to do better then 9's to make me change my shorts. I grew up around the likes of Lamar Walden and a few others down here. My dad does buisness on a regular basis with a guy who runs a shop that tunes and modifies Corvettes, Lamborghinis, things like that. I have been in some cars that would wax a 9 second car. But like I said before, in no way were they "average daily driven street cars". Especially not souped up econo boxes. The only reason I may need to change my shorts, is because I'm going that fast in a tin can of a car.
