As “luck” would have it, I got rear-ended in the Mav last Wednesday while pulling into my place of work’s driveway. Was just starting to turn in off of a 4-lane busy avenue, checked my rearview, had my turn sig on, again looked in the rearview and saw nothing but white & chrome front grill of a F250 Reading utility pickup (fully loaded by the way) and BAM!!! Caught me just above my bumper (good thing, didn’t hurt the frame) on the driver’s rear quarter & pushed me around 180 degrees. I just rode it out rather than fight it and ended up better off, I’m sure. The truck was one of a fleet (large company based out of Orlando) and the driver admitted fault immediately. Took me awhile to actually get out and look at the damage (and not wring the guy’s neck – all 135 lb me to his 250 lb him, LOL).

Long story short – the Mav got towed to our original body/paint guy and will be fixed and looking right again soon. Me? Well, I turned away the ambulance but did get checked out at the hospital. Two vertebrae in my neck are protruding and I’m sporting a heavy duty neckbrace for 2 weeks until a follow-up with a neurologist to see if they went back in place. I can’t wait to get the Mav back – even though the rental car has A/C, it’s just not the same as sporting the Mav around town!

Damn, that really sucks! I would be pulling some measurements to be damn sure the frame is not bent. Also, take a close look at the frame where it arches above the rear axle, just behind the rubber bump stops. That seems to be the main place that damage occurs when these cars are in a minor to moderate rear end collison, the entire length of the frame rail gains leverage on that one spot.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Man that really sucks and unfortunetly it is a risk we take when driving our "babies' Daily or anywhere for that matter.

Sorry to hear about the car and especially your neck, I have back problems and have nerve damage due to a Fall at work and I have been through surgery and many injections and still have to take Pain meds every day all day long. Hope your's gets better and doesn't leave any permenant damage

    Thanks for the well wishes

I'm hoping the neck stuff will straighten out and trying to think positively -- but if it doesn't, you can be sure I'll be contacting an attorney.

autokrafters.com can hook you up with a brand new full 1/4 panel. your either gonna have to get a used trunk lid or get a fiberglass one

    good luck in your search

Holly it is good to hear that you are going to be alright and that you can get the car fixed. I think I may have a good deck lid and possibly a 1/4 panel but that would be iffy. I pray for a fast recovery for you. Keep us posted.

Man, that really sucks. :( I truely hope your neck will be OK. The Maverick can be repaired, but back and neck problems can last a lifetime. Let us know how things turn out for you.
