Got the motor today! A lot of hard work done for more hard work ahead. First thing is to dismantle the thing and get rid of unwanted crap. Came from an 84 Econoline, so has many goofy parts that I don't need/want. Wish me luck on my new project! Also, now that I have the engine and Tranny, any pesky problems I should fix that is typical of 302s? Thanks,
Here are some pics. Motor looks rough, but runs...ahem...ran good. View attachment 22282 View attachment 22283
Engine disassembly... yeehaw! Here are some pics so far of the disassembly: View attachment 22300 View attachment 22301 View attachment 22302 Timing chain is prestine, but alas, I'll have to replace it. Am planning on getting a performance camshaft/lifter set from Edelbrock. Any suggestions (not outlandish) on timing chain and sprocket?
Good luck on the project! I've got a 302 out of Lincoln Continental that we're going to be putting in my '77 this winter.
