My 73 has all drum muscle brakes on all four corners. When I come to a stop there is a shimmy. A vibration that I can't stand. I haven't checked the shoes yet so I am ass-uming thats what it is, redo the brakes and it will go away. Ideas?

The main concern I have is when I drive down bumpy roads(dirt roads like my driveway) there is a distinct rattle from the drivers side wheel area. I don't want my wheel to fall off with the family riding.

    WTF?

Probably an out of round brake drum. Fixing it depends on how far out of round it is and how much meat is left on your drum. Not sure if you can get new drums for these cars. I'm sure someone has looked.

Definately an out of round drum. I was able to get new drums for my '74 Grabber back in 2005, they were special order back then and only Pep Boys could get them. No idea about now.

The rattle is possibly a worn ball joint. Hard to say without hearing it. Sounds like it's time to rebuild the front end and put some disc brakes on. :)

well i checked today and none of the stores had them in stock but you could special order them at any autozone which then takes three days to arrive at whichever store you ordered them from

Last time I bought drums I just went to CJ Pony Parts, local Mustang supply house, and bought them right off the shelf. If you know the width, diameter and number of lugs they can match them to the Mustang parts.

True. I figured if I gotta rebuild the front end I may as well go with discs.
