Does anyone have experience with updating the entire air conditioner system in their Maverick? Does the complete after-market unit for a Mustang/Cougar work? thanks Phil

I could not get any good answers about after market a/c units . What i did is to use a mix of old and new . Everthing under the dash is factor a/c 71 vintage and under the hood is new, rotory compressor ,4 pass condenser and new hoses and 134a feron and fan on condenser . However not happy with the temp. out of the ducts with the 134a i will be changeing back to R12 freon .

    hope this helps

do you have a v8? im sure 5.0 stuff from the late 80's early 90's is a step up from the vntage 70's stuff. probably not that much harder to hook up either since it is the same engine

I have a completely different A/C-heater system in my Maverick. The under dash box is from a 1980-81 Thunderbird, and so is the entire dash. Under the hood I am using an A-6 compressor from a '75 Monarch. I also modified the system so it uses an electronic head unit from a 2000 Crown vic, so the car now has fully automatic climate control...

That said, you probably don't want to go as radical as that. :) I don't know too much about the complete aftermarket units, but i believe it would be far easier to use a factory A/C-heater box under the dash and then add a modern compressor and condenser under the hood. Using a factory A/C box makes things somewhat easier because you won't need to modify the existing dash...

Cum on, a ballpark would be nice...such as "more than $500" or somewhere around $1500"...

There are some of us down "south" who just aren't driving their cars because it is a "balmy" 96 outside...

No, he didn't, but I AM getting e-mails from him...civil ones, at that!

I took mine off because it was in the way!

I plan on putting one back on, but not ON TOP OF the engine. I want to mount my compressor where the alternator is, or below it, and run a complete aftermarket system.

I couldn't stand moving all that crap out of the way when I was working under the hood.

By the way, I have only swapped ONE cam...
