well if all you want is the rough idle, find yourself a solid flat tappet cam with about a 260 duration at .050" lift, 110 lobe separation or more, and probably .650 or so lift. It'll sound pretty mean but it won't have any vacuum, won't idle below 1500 RPM without LOTS of timing and it'll probably have very little low end power. But it'll sound good.

another option is to call a cam company and tell them your motor specs, then tell them you want a rough idle so it'll sound good, yet still be streetable. They can cut the lobes in a way that it'll sound MEAN but still have "decent" street manners.

    cam

My friends this isnt about a lumpy cam ,its about getting the revs to 7500 to 8000 rpm in hydraulic cam and can still idle at a traffic lite ,drive it as a spring and summer weekend car and race at the trck ,thats what i want from this motor, Jimmy2gates

Yes, and I want Jessica Alba to profess her undying love for me, as well as cook, do my laundry and wax my car on weekends, all while never getting old.

    :rofl2:

I have a hydraulic in my 347 with 10.5:1 compression, .541/.544 lift with 240/248 @ .050 duration. It ain't the biggest cam by far but I like it and I drive the near about everyday.

agree! or just tell them your combo and your plans and let them decide what would be the most bang for the buck! Why have a motor spinning 8,000 rpm when its not necessary :)
8,000rpm only means you have to walk further to pick up all the pieces when it flies apart :rofl2:
