Take a look at this pic...those washers are MUCH thicker than the ones I use. Mine flex and bend into the holes when I crank them down. Are these what I should be using instead?

Scott; The wheels I had used washers that fit inside the tips and into the recessed area, and were flush to the wheel. Those are really thick. If they don't sit flush on the inside, they may not tighten down correctly. If they do, they would be stronger. My wheels were used about 20yrs ago, so they may have changed in that time. Still, a great looking wheel.

I have a set of cragars and my washers are thick, and they are marked on one side with "This Side To Wheel" you can get them at most speed shops, I replaced both the lugs and washers a few years ago. Got mine from the local shop, Proformance Products.

I have KeyStone uniLug & the warshers are thick but, they set in flush with the wheel. I saw a set of Cragers with those warshers on it too & my tire man said they where "not" correct. I also got mine from him @ the local tire shop. Good Luck!

the cragar uni-LUG sets on top of the rim and if you look at the area nesx to the lug nut you see a little triangle that stops the washer. On all the cragers with the uni-LUG pattern that is how they mount.

Here is what mine look like...they are fairly soft and as I have torqued them down, they just bend and give. In fact, I can not really get them torqued...they will just keep squishing and never "bottom out".

Also, these nuts are chrome, and soft as well, and will strip out in a second. Any suggestion on better nuts?

I bought both of these through the local auto parts store and JEGS (separate sets, due to stripping of nuts and warping of washers).

Scott, look into McGard lug nuts and washers. They make washers for use with Cragars and there washers and lug nuts don't rust like the cheap stuff.

That is what I am starting to wonder...The package said they were, but they were mr. Gasket or something cheap like that (the ones from O'Reilly AND the ones from JEGS or Summit). So I figured that was what you get...

I will look into McGard...Thanks for the tip:thumbs2:

I would suggest ONLY using Cragar brand lug nuts and washers. I have tried other brands...but they nver fit as well as Cragar brand ones do.

The washers on my unilug Cragars look like the ones in the first post, not recessed and a specific side goes toward the wheel. The shoulder length on the nuts is almost as thick as the wheel center and fit tightly in close tolerance wheel holes. They are original Cragar nuts and washers.

Mine are oval with a hole in the center. They sit inside the two tabs on either side of the lug holes.
Very thick and they center the wheels perfectly.

The traditional Cragar S/S wheel fits 3 bolt patterns - 5x4.5",5x4.75" and 5x5". The correct washer is thick and has the words "wheel side" stamped on one surface. When mounting these wheels on the Maverick or Comet, the proper washer has an offset hole;(narrow part of the washer next to the wheel hub).
