I was wondering if a Shelby front valence would fit on the front of a maverick? I always liked the look of no front bumper and just the front valence.
Using anything from another car is a gamble so first thing is you have to be willing to take the chance that it may not work and you may also lose money. I would start by finding a mustang and ask the owner if you could measure it. I beleave that valance is fiberglass so you might be able to find someone to cut it and glass it back together if it is wider. 65-66 may be close to the right size. My wifes car has a 70 mustang rear valance that fit pretty well.
I have put a 65 R Model apron up to a Maverick and they are indeed just a bit wider. I didn't measure it, but it's probably a couple inches or so per side. I agree that the apron could be cut in the middle and narrowed to fit. I would suggest it would be most successful by adding it to a 74-77 Maverick without the bumper installed. The Shelby aprons mount more from the front than the bottom, so the lower front extensions on the 74-77 models would be useful for mounting. Keep in mind the Mustang apron is also curved at the sides versus the Maverick extensions which are almost straight up and down. It will not be an easy fit, but someone with the time and skill could fit one up. Good luck. Be sure to post some photos if you are able to mount one successfully.
Thanks Dan...and I've told you before and I'll tell you again. You have the finest Stallion I've ever seen. That small bumper swap on that car made it #1 in my book. Did I ever mention the fact that I hate the big bumper cars? Matter of fact, my brown 74 LDO car is getting ready to be listed for sale. I can't bring myself to alter it with it being so original and I just can't make myself get used to the big bumpers. Did I ever mention the fact that I hate big bumpers??? Oh well, the car served it's purpose. It gave me something to drive and put in shows as I was re-rebuilding my blue car from the Katrina damage. Now I have two other projects I want to put some money in. My 71 green Grabber I purchased in 74 and my Sprint. I've finally came to the conclusion that I want to wind up with 3 finished cars. My blue car which I can hot rod around in and show, my green one which I want to build for long cruises (a/c and all) and for show, and the Sprint which I may do a 100% all original resto on. If I do a concours resto on the Sprint, it could very possibly be the only one in existence in that condition when I get finished...since somebody else modified theirs to hell and back. Anyway, that's the plans for now. And thanks again!
Wow, that blue Pro Touring Maverick looks awesome! Who's is it? Or is it photoshopped? I don't know what the front facia was originally for but it all looks good together.

That's certainly an interesting combination. I'd like to see some more pictures, especially under the hood to see how it was done. Or could it be photoshopped?
