Just reminiscing a little. When my grandmother heard I am buying another Maverick, she dug this picture out of her "archives" so-to-speak. It's a picture of me with my first Maverick back in high school. I've been missing it ever since I sold it.
looks like it was a nice car i really like the dog dishes with body colored rims. so whats the status on your "new" maverick?
Deposit sent and bus ticket purchased. As you can see from the pictures on Craig's website, it looks eerily similar to my first car. Going to finalize the transaction next weekend. Had to work the first couple home football games or I'd have been there and back weeks ago PSU vs. Notre Dame game this weekend should be exciting though.
I don't think cameras were readily available back when I got my first car. Actually, just about every picture I had of my car, high school, college, marriage, first three kids, etc. was lost in a house fire in Sept. '97. BTW, I'll be a Penn State fan this weekend. My second favorite college team is whoever is playing Notre Dame. I'm a Georgia Bulldog fan and I was even happy when Georgia Tech stomped 'em last week.
I have been searching for pics of my car when Anna's great grandmother was still driving it. But none have surfaced yet. Everyone "remembers" seeing some, but nobody can produce them. THAT would be cool if I could find them...
That is a nice picture! I have some pictures like that to. I put some pictures from 1974 to 2007 together in a large frame. It shows events like car shows, friends cars, and pictures of Mavericks and there owners I liked through the years. It looks nice on the wall with some awards I have won.
Make copies of those pictures, scan 'em on to a CD, and put 'em in a fire proof safe. I can tell that a fire will do away with any evidence of memories and only leave you with those in your mind. I wish I still had the pictures and documentation of my '67 Fairlane I had in the '70's.
On that note depending on the quality of the CDs you use, (personally I get the ones that are free after rebate) you will want to burn new copies every so often. The chemicals in the media break down over time so always have copies of important or sentimental files on two types of media. (say a CD and on the hard drive in your computer.) I think on average CDs start to have errors after about 10 years. I've never had any that long... but they're so cheap why risk it?
