That car is not photo shopped, it really did exist. Unfortunately, it was wrapped around a telephone pole about this time last year. I love it though. I would love to do that to a 4 door Maverick, and stick Mustang tail lights on it. I'd do it just to drive it around and watch people go . I've been half way keeping an eye out for some rough old Mustang fenders. The shop across the street from where I work is a sheet metal shop, and I know they could do it with no problem.
you will have to graft the maverick and mustang fenders together. the door line are compleatly different. i have a picture of a mustang fender butted against a maverick door, not even close.
A 4-door with the Mustang front and taillights would really have the Mustang guys scratching their heads. Could you imagine taking it to a Mustang show? Ha, ha, ha. Hope you can get to the project someday.
That would be GREAT! The only thing I would do different is put shelby tail lights on it to give even more of the effect. Somethink like that would be a blast to take to the Somernites Cruise here and just set back and watch the people walk around it and say "What the heck is that? I've never saw a 4dr Shelby mustang."
The builder of that car didn't graft the parts. He just faded out the body line on the Stang fender and faded in a Maverick body line. I guess what I am getting at is that he just reworked the body lines in the last several inches of the Stang fender. Once that is done, it fits fine. It did fit fine with the body lines mismatched, but it was rough looking. What I find absolutely amazing is that everything bolted on just fine other than the body lines at the door. Who would have thought the 67-68 Stang hood was the perfect length and width to fit? Who would have thought the fenders would just drop on there and line up with the hood and cowl so well? If the Stang is so much wider, this stuff wouldn't fit as well as it did... even understanding that it took some blending. Blending is the key word, as opposed to major surgery! I don't know exactly where the difference is between Stang and Mav that allows one to run a BBF and the other not to, yet they can swap front clips and suspension parts... It's odd. Oh yeah, it's also amazing how the fender can line up with the windshield and cowl while at the same time center the wheels in the wells...
i think the shock towers must have been placed a little closer together for some reason. but then again the maverick rear is shorter too.
Fann2488 It looks like you are right, all that's needed is a little blending, as here. So the truth is that a 67/68 Mustang "will" bolt on! Wow that opens room the door for a 1968 KR500 Maviscometstang!!!!! WHOOO HOO Ok who will be the first to build one!

You have to remember, the Mustang fenders lined up with the Mustang hood. I doubt the Mustang hood and Maverick hood are the same length.
I hate to be the barer of bad new but, that is a maverick fender back grafted to the mustang. two things I notice right off, the fender to windshield and that channel on the door of the mustang. It disappers about a foot from the end of the maverick/mustang fender. had to add another one....the distance from the door to the wheel opening.
Thack, can you post a couple nice shots of your front facia setup? It looks really cool. What did you start with for it, and what mods were required to get it mounted?
