    I meant a Chilton Manual.

As for tire/rims, I am looking for something that will fill the wheel wells nicely, but not get in the way or rub, not protrude from the body, and give me maximum allowable surface area touching the road. While searching the forums, I came across the attached photo. Do I need that much clearance in the rear to prevent the tires from rubbing the wheel well? I really don't like to look of tires that seem to be too small for the vehicle (F-250's or Wranglers with stock rims come to mind) Could I use 17" inch rims in the rear to compensate, or is this car sitting unusually high? I don't seem to find that happening in other photos of Mavericks.

now that you mention it the back of that car seems raised a little and maybe a bigger rim would help fill in that space, other then that i really dont see anything wrong with that look of that car

Yes....that car has been raised in the rear (it is my car). The tires would rub otherwise.

Not necessarily "dubs" per se, it's not bad, I was just curious. The other examples I mentioned are really what I mean. Also, I didn't get to look at the maverick today, but I re-scheduled for Sunday. I will be sure to bring my camera, and plan on starting a new thread dedicated to the car and its ongoing restomod.

I totally agree, but the rims I was looking at are sort of close (just a plain 5-spoke) and pretty cheap considering they are billet aluminum (extremely light). I just like wheel wells to look a little more "filled in" actually, i would prefer a higher aspect ration tire than a larger rim.

So I took a look at the car today. It's a P.O.S. Rust on the front quarter panel near the wheel well, rust on the Rear quarter panel near the wheel well, rust on the frame, front bumper halfway broken off. Barely starts, carb bogs down when accelerating. Rusted floor panels, no carpet, two dime sized hole in driver side floor (one near accelerator linkage, the other near tranny hump). Missing interior door paneling on drivers side, crappy 80's Buick seats with springs poking out in front, deteriorating original vinyl seats with undone stitching in rear, shuddering engine, big dent on drivers side fast-back area, paint worn off of now rusting roof, rotting tires, a floor shift conversion that looks like it was done with a pair of tin snips and a hammer. Didn't even check odometer I was so disappointed. And the guy wants $750!! I told him maybe 500, but its not even worth that!! I brought a friend along to drive it back, and the guy said he didn't trust it to go that far (about 60 mi.)! I took a bunch of photos, but the camera I was using doesn't work. I wish you guys could see for yourself... with the afore mentioned problems, what would be a fair price? $100? $200? the price of renting a Uhaul trailer to get that crap off the street for him? He also says he will part it out if he can't get the price he wants. What are the parts worth? A tired 3 speed, a 250 in need of a rebuild, the disc brake front end, and the bumpers (which he claims are worth $100-$150 for the pair at the junkyard) are the only parts in that car I can see him doing anything with besides paying to get towed away. It really pisses me off, because it is such an awesome looking car in person.

-Jack (does anyone here have a maverick or comet in the south jersey philly area for sale cheap?)

the bumpers may be worth $150, that is if you can find a junk yard that charges $1 per pound of scrap metal lol.

sounds like a parts car to me, if that. the $750 would seem like an increadibly small amout of money compared to how much it will cost to get it looking decent. the engine sounds like a whole diffrent can of worms. he probably ot going to take $200 for it but that all i'd give him.

goo look in the classified forum on this page, i posted up a maverick for sale in philly last week. i think another guy in the S. jersy area was selling one a few weeks ago too. i think his user name was sleeper. the one i posted looks a little worn out but paint is paint, sounds like he did alot of work to it under the hood
