My Comet looks tough, sure. But the truth is it has never gone over 60mph as long as I've had it. The tach says I'm pushing 3200+rpm at 60mph and it feels like the engine is at it's limit.
Is there something I can do to make it go faster without blowing up?

Mash the gas and run it up to 4500 RPM and go faster.

I'm no expert, but I'd say the problem is the transmission, is it automatic or manual? What gears you got in the differential?

You know, when I brought her home the wife followed me and said I was racing around like a retard through a 35 mph zone. The speedo said I was doing the limit so maybe I'm going faster than I think.

Maybe the wrong speedo gear? (The one that goes into the side of the trans.)

get someone to follow you, however fast there going is how fast your going as long as you stay the same distence from one another and no ones pulling ahead/falling behind.

i had to do that in my olds since the trans, rear and tire sizes are all mixed matched from other cars

might also be a tach issue. on alot of them theres a switch for going between 4,6,8 cylinder engines. if you have a 302 and its switched to the 6 position your gonna be all screwed up. 3000 rpm sounds a hell of alot diffrent then 6000 as well
