Long tube Hooker #6901 seems to be the header of choice around here.Do a search you will find tons of info regarding header choices on this forum.I dont think there is a shorty header that workes in a mav/comet.Good luck.

There is a member on the forum that works for Thorley.
He pressed the company into making shorties for us as a favor.
That said, they are 302 headers, I doubt very seriously they would work on a W.
I just brought it up because the previous poster said there were no shorties.
    He was talking about a 302 because the 6901s don't fit a W in a Maverick.

    You have several choices:
1: Crites has a 1.75" header that goes in with little trouble.
They get good reviews from the few that have them. They just came out earlier this year.

2: Hooker has a 65-66 W swap header that can be used in a Mav, but it is a little more work to install than required for the Crites. They are about the same price as Crites, expensive. They also have 1.75" tubes.

3: Tubular automotive has a 1.5" header for our cars.
They require early SBF engine mounts and frame stands. The ones used up to mid-66. They are costly headers too.

4: I believe it is Hedman that has the other swap header. It is slightly less expensive, but only has 1.5" tubes.

5: There is a company that makes shorties for a 351w in a 65-66 Stang.
They only come coated, and are very expensive as well. I believe they are 1.625" tubes IIRC. I don't know any Mav guys using this header, but do know of Stang guys using them and they fit great. I looked them over very good and they appear they will fit our cars too. I was considering them for a while. I haven't got my 393w started yet though, so I won't jump the gun and say I am going to try them.
Probably just use the Crites now that they are out and seem to be the least amount of work to get big tubes on a W.

6: I know you are looking for headers, but I have heard of members here using the stock 302 Mav manifolds on Ws.

    Pardon the interuption..............................

Has anyone used BBK-1512 Equal Length Headers? I'm planning on going with Mustang II type suspension on the Comet and will rid the car of it's shock towers. Should have plenty room.?.?. Rebuilding a 1987 F-150 roller 5.0 to go in it. A couple small 4-barrels and a mild cam to warm it up. Not sure about which heads to use, will do more research on that.

Appreciate any real-world info on these headers.

    Thanks,
    Sopp
